Who Is This Chick?

I Wish My Hair Was This Long
Whenever I come to one of these “About” pages on a website or blog, I’m drawn in as much by style as I am by substance. As a new visitor, I don’t need to know a person’s life story (at least not right away). I need a reason to keep reading. I never realized how hard the style piece could be until I sat down to write this.
I’ve been writing in one form or another for more than fifteen years. Enough kind people encouraged me that I decided to try my luck with a wider audience. On their heads be it. Olivia Duncan Craig is not my real name. For now, I prefer to keep my public and private lives separate. That may change one day. I’m based out of Washington, DC, but travel extensively for work and play. I live with my adorable dog and long-suffering cat. My apartment overlooks the water. Life is good.
Some of the things I like are:
- Nick and Nora Charles, as played by William Powell and Myrna Loy
- U2′s halftime performance at the 2002 Superbowl
- Naps
- Paul Bettany
- The Pre-Raphaelite collection at the Tate
- Soulmates
- Aaron Sorkin’s snappy repartee
- British television
- Jared Padalecki’s chest
- Cornwall
- The Empress Theodora
- Rosa Mexicano’s guacamole
- Reading, with my dog asleep beside me on the couch
- A.S. Byatt’s Possession
- Rory and Amy on Doctor Who
- Paris
- Birch trees
- Sidecars (the cocktail, not the ones attached to motorcycles)
- Alexandrites
- Breakfast at Miss Shirley’s
- Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman’s twisted love affair in Notorious
- Illuminated manuscripts
- Flying business class
- Thanksgiving with my family
- Bluebells
- Dennis Lehane’s Peter McKenzie and Angela Gennaro mysteries
- Ghost stories
- Jo Malone’s Pomegranate Noir
- 1968 Ford Mustangs
- DC Cupcake’s Southern Belle
I absolutely loved your book! I really hope there is a sequel or at least a follow up to Jason and Devin.
Thank you so much! I’m really glad you enjoyed it. I may have some ideas for a follow-up. But I need to write a couple of other things first. I’ll keep you posted.
I look forward to your future works.
Thanks, hon!
I really enjoyed Redemption. I would like to think that Devin and Jason find Jason’s family and bring them back to earth, then Jason and Devin get married. Do you have a way to notify interested readers if you do write a sequel?
Burch
Hi, Burch.
Thanks so much for letting me know you enjoyed Redemption. I like to think Devin and Jason find Jason’s family and bring them home too. I have some ideas as to what that would look like. Leave me your email addy and I’ll add you to my newly forming mail list.
I’m happy to keep you apprised of new releases.
I loved Redemption!!!! Devin and Jason were well written characters – I absolutely fell in love with both of them – story line was great!!!! Hope more stories to come from the other characters. Please put me on your email list for future books.
That’s so good to hear! Thank you. I’ll definitely add you to my mailing list.
Please add to your mailing list

Bawlmer! I love Baltimore (if you look above, you can see that breakfast at Miss Shirley’s is one of my favorite things). I lived there for two years in the not so distant past. Mt. Washington for the win! \o/
I’m really glad you enjoyed Redemption and I hope you like Out of the Ashes. Thanks so much for stopping by.
Hi Olivia
Just wanted to drop you a note and tell you how much I enjoyed Out of the Ashes. It is now my favorite Cinderella tale.
Noah is such a wonderful character, I just wanted to hug him!
Thanks again for a great story!
Kathy
You are so sweet! Thank you. Thanks too for the wonderful review on Amazon. Those things mean a lot to an author, so I really appreciate your taking the time to leave one. Take care.
Hi Olivia, I just wanted to say my retro read review of Out of Ashes was posted today here
